“Thanks to the CHAMPA project fund, I’ve been able to buy 3 more traditional looms, enabling me to train the next generation. I’ve also refurbished the shop. As a result, tourists are stopping in and I’m selling my fabrics much better than before. The next step will be to offer weaving class for visitors willing to learn the basics.”
When she heard about the CHAMPA Project’s call for proposals to support local initiatives, Ms Khamdeng immediately realized that this was her chance to put her ideas into practice: training the younger generation and making her shop more attractive.
Khamdeng’s workshop is located in the center of Champasak, in a pretty traditional house. It’s a great place to visit.
